We are the PS 8 Green Team: Charlotte, Hailey, Anna, B.K., Colm, Esme, Egypt, Ruby, Marie, Jazia and Janae. We meet after school on Wednesdays. We started at the end of September.
We are trying to persuade people to recycle and compost. In mid-October we gave presentations to classes about paper recycling in the classroom. Now each week we are going to classrooms checking their recycling bins.
We are going outside to our school’s compost, and bringing our own compostables from home. If you have your own compostables at home, you can bring them to the Poplar Street entrance where a parent will be waiting to put them into a composting bin on Fridays only from 8:30-8:45am. We are also trying to compost in the cafeteria by going around with bins for your food scraps (only for grades 3, 4 and 5). Look for our signs in the cafeteria.
Our goals for the future are to recycle plastic and metal at PS 8. Currently we are working with our custodians to make this happen.
