Under a gorgeous early November sky, a hearty group of lower and middle school parents from PS 8 took to Van Voorhees Field for the sixth annual PS8 Co-Ed Softball Game. The Fall Classic pitted parents with kids in k-4th grade against parents with kids in 5th-8th grades.
While others had begun their NYC marathon pursuits, these weekend warriors demonstrated solid hitting, nifty glove work and pinpoint control from the pitcher’s mound. The game was tight throughout, with the upper grades ending up with bragging rights in a 6-2 contest. And most importantly, there were no pulled hamstrings or lower back pain reported trying to leg out an extra base hit or break up a double play.
Special thanks go out to Doug Glickman, Drew Weinstein for organizing what is always a great time; to Ms. Long for ably representing the amazing teachers; and to the parents and kids who led the bake sale and cheered on the ballplayers.
